New pike flies, pike fly lines and marker pens are being added to our range over the next few days, so check them out as they appear!

And a new range of fluff will be along shortly for those that like to tie and use "budgie" type pike flies.....you know what I mean!!!

TUESDAY 1st JULY 2014. Some more new patterns added to our range of ready-to-go pike flies.....hope you like them! RODS WILL BE HERE SOON....PROMISE!

Incidentally, copy and paste this link into your browser to see what some of the Irish lads are doing with Stealth Flies......with that in mind there's some new patterns available right here on the Pike Flies pages so check them out.

Monday April 28 2014

We now have our ever-popular 10/12 weight fly reels back in stock, along with spare spools to match! All back-orders will now be sent out this week so thanks for waiting guys......

November 6th 2013

It's now become clear that team Piketrek won't be able to compete at this year's Welney Flyer which is taking place on Sunday this weekend, a competition that we have all come to truly love. For various reasons we are all unavailable for this year's contest due to a mix of personal reasons and previous commitments, but we will hopefully be back for next year's competition. I will be sending a charity donation to the PFFA in lieu of us not being there, and I hope it's a good contest as it normally is. Good luck to everyone!

Sunday 26th October 2013

They say that lightning never strikes twice.......don't believe a word!!!

Twice in a row now, Andy has caught both the highest aggregate weight AND the single biggest pike to lift the Piketrek Predator Cup and the Len Spencer Trophy at Cropston reservoir yesterday. On a day where the water conditions left much to be desired and the fishing hugely difficult, Andy struggled like everyone else but persevered to win through despite the excellent field of contestants, and this was his first ever visit to the venue! Well done youth....but you'll have to fit a bigger mantlepiece at this rate! Surely you can't do it again next year....or can you? I certainly wouldn't bet against it! Full details of the event will be displayed shortly on the competition page.

11th October 2013

I am off to Ireland tonight for a well-earned short fishing break on the Western Loughs with my good buddies David Anchell and Kenny Sloan. I will be back next Wednesday 16th so all orders received in the meantime will be processed then. Sorry for any delays this may cause.

30th September 2013

I have just put a new half-hour video on Youtube called Rainbow Warrior Part One. You can watch it by cutting and pasting this link into your browser...

It shows some nice fish and really effective pike flies being put throught their paces. The sound quality is not as good as I would like so you will have to turn the volume up to full blast if you want to hear our running commentary, please remember we are anglers, not film makers! But the footage is interesting enough and shows more about the way I fish and the ideas I have. Might raise a few eyebrows here and there but it's as honest as it gets....no bullshit, just honest footage and a few tips for the more inexperienced among you.

It's the first part of a greater whole, part two is nearly completed but it might run into a third part yet when I get the fly-tying footage sorted out. I haven't yet decided what else is going on there...that all depends on how the rest of the season goes! With an iminent trip to Ireland ahead and the Predator Cup taking place the following week I have a lot on my plate at the moment! Hope you like it!

5th March 2013

OVERSEAS CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE! Mr. Bond, Final Overcoat, Adhesives.........

Due to new regulations coming into force regarding the carriage of "dangerous goods" by International Airmail, we will no longer be able to supply our famous Mr. Bond UV resin to those customers who reside overseas, neither will we be able to send any varnish or glue. This situation is entirely out of our control so unfortunately we will have to live with it, at least for the time being. Any overseas customer who orders any of these products will be refunded for that part of the purchase but the remainder of the order will be sent as normal.

Andy Pollard is the Champion! Local angler Andrew Pollard caught a thirteen pound two ounce pike to take the Predator Cup and the Len Spencer Cup for the single biggest pike on the day, you might call that a clean sweep for local knowledge! Well done Andy.

In all £480.03 was raised for STEPS by the 18 anglers who took part in the event, so we would like to say a big "thank you" to all who took part and generously put their hands in their pockets for such a good cause, especially those who travelled long distances to support us. Dave Lindsay and his mate Conan Fyvie came all the way from Edinburgh, Mike Bolt travelled from South Wales and Vincent Middleton drove up from darkest Kent to help us out, and in Vince's case it proved to be worthwhile as he came third and won a nice shiny reel as a just reward.

16th July....The Piketrek Predator Cup

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting our first ever Pike and Predator Fly fishing competition at Frisby Water Park near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire on Saturday 20th October 2012.

15th July.....now you can have the best for less!

We have decided to bring you the best for less with our new complete pike fly fishing outfit... Pikesaber, Super-Light Reel, Line and Backing, Authanic trace wire and ten superb fish-catching Piketrek Readymade Pike Flies all for less than 300 notes.

That's a saving of almost 20% on purchasing the items seperately and gives you the confidence to go out and give it a go knowing that all your equipment is designed to catch Pike, and not just look pretty in a shop! If you are looking out for the Ultimate Pike Fly tackle at the best possible price, then check-out our deals on the rods page because you know it makes sense to BUY THE BEST FOR LESS!

10th July......The new reels are now in stock!

Our funky new reels have finally arrived from the manufacturers so now we have two versions of our super-light fly reels for you to drool over!

What a wonderful bloke Kenny Sloan is......if it's a hard-working guide you're after then look no further than him, this guy really knows his stuff and has a great sense of humour. And what spectacular venues he has access to, all full of hard-fighting long lean and super-fit pike of all sizes. We had a brilliant few days in Kenny's company and we are already looking forward to going over to the Emerald Isle again to spend some more time in Kenny's back-yard.

My own personal favourite venue was Lough Conn.....20 miles long and 4 miles wide and full of pikey-looking territory, weed, rocks and huge areas of gin-clear water. It reminds me very much of one of my favourite French waters Lac Du Der Chantecoq, a lake that I fished on numerous occasions and never blanked on either!

The full story of our Irish adventure will soon be displayed on our "guiding" section together with all the relevant information and contact details both for Kenny and the excellent "Maloney's Lodge", our B'n'B base for the trip. Eddie and Pauline Maloney are excellent hosts and our sincere thanks must go to them for making our trip so comfortable and enjoyable. They really did go to great lengths to fit in with our needs and nothing was too much trouble for them, they even laughed-off the fact that we upset the resident German guests at unsociable hours of the night! Top folks, top humour, top grub, and really lovely people, so thanks again folks!

Maloney's is handily placed a short walk from Foxford town centre where we must also mention The Angler's Bar run by Pat Guiry, a really nice bloke selling some of the best "black stuff" in all of Ireland, so CHEERS PAT! We will certainly be back for some more of your wares!

May I take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers for their continued support, kind comments, and lovely emails.......it is so nice to know that our work here is so keenly appreciated and it really does make everything so much more worthwhile for me....so THANKS A MILLION TO EVERYONE!

Last Day of the River Season -

I had a good last-day-of-the-season session on the river courtesy of Craig Faulkner, who has access to a private weirpool on the Trent. We shared a total of 19 good pike between us with at least six good low-doubles; we had so much action at times it was hard to keep track! I would think that the biggest went around twelve pounds or so; we didn't bother to weigh them until Craig . . . . . .  . READ MORE

9th November

We have added a few new products this month -

Dr Beechys' Original Compound Tungsten Putty -  along with new Gill Plates and a new range of lines.

We have had loads of interest in Uncle Gregs' stealth fly. I can understand why as this is a superb creation. Watch this space for these to be available ready tied shortly. If you can't wait then grab your vise and some materials and tie your own. Their is a great youtube tutorial on how to do it.

We have also added to readers pikes - Check out David Dowies PB and Damon Keuhl's PIKESABER caught Muskie. Both superb specimens.

Damon's Muskie

5th October.

Well it's been a busy few months =- Greg's been out night fishing for Pike on the Fly - It's like poor mans sea trout fishing! But slightly more chance of getting bit!

Here's the Video!

15th August - New Languages Added !

We've noticed an increasing amount of web traffic coming from locations other than 'Old Blighty over the last few months, and we have seen many new customers coming from overseas. With this in mind we have started to add new languages to our website, so that our non-english speaking pike fly fishing customers can use the site without the need for translation software.

This has been a lot of fun for us - and some of the translations may seem a little odd. Some so odd that they have had us in stitches :)

Anyway - The Languages added so far are French - Hungarian - German - Spanish with more to come soon. Please note that they are incomplete in parts but we are working to complete these soon.

Have fun fluff flingers!

Two new Pike Flies have been added to our pike fly fishing attractor range. These are the Derwent Devil and the Gerd Muller. Both are catching well on the Derwent at the moment.

The weather hasn't been brilliant for pike fly fishing over the last few weeks. The waters are a little murky and it's been cold. Blithfield Res opens up it's gates for anglers in 3 weeks time and I for one and very excited at the prospect of a few big pike on the fly. The rivers have been good for numbers of pike, and the quality of the fish has been superb, but river caught pike tend to be smaller than res caught fish, but they still fight well!

I remain convinced that we will have a large 30 if not a 40 this year. I have Chew Valley on the Doorstep and Greg Has Blithfield on his. How much better placed could we be for pike fly fishing?

Keep an eye over the next few weeks for Greg's Guided Pike fly fishing trips. He will be taking bookings over the next few months. If you want to get ahead of the game you can always contact Greg on the above number, or via email.

Greg has produced the first of what will soon be many tutorials on Pike Fly Tying.

This one is called the 5 Minute Pike Fly, and is tied using our range of pike fly materials. Enjoy!

We have updated our range of pike flies with some fantastic new imitative patterns and some funky attractor patterns.

All of these flies have been tied using our new range of pike fly body materials

We also have a new range of gills and eyes for blinging up your pike fly patterns.

Strelley and Scalesy also got bored over the christmas period as all the lakes had frozen over. They took some time out from their heavy schedule of tea drinking and mince pie eating to make their first youtube video in the snow.

It shows off the casting ability of our pike fly rod the Pikesaber. . . . . and to be perfectly honest it's a pretty good effort. Well done lads!

You can watch it here - - -

A short time ago at a trout lake not far away. . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  two friends (and relatives) went fishing for pike on the fly.

Realising that they were inadequately equipped for the task of pike fly fishing they set about looking for tackle that was specifically designed for the pike fly fisherman. Sure, there were products on the market that said they were pike fly rods and reels, but upon inspection these turned out to be little more than a 9 and 10 weight fly rod. Great for casting a line on a reservoir into a heavy wind, but not adequate for the punishment of pike fly fishing.

The other end of the spectrum was tarpon rods and sea reels. Too heavy for playing a pike and too expensive for us. I can only imagine how one may feel after trapping a £650 rod in a car door, or dropping it, off ones yacht. . . .

So Piketrek was born. We sought out new products, tested them, refined them and now we bring them to you, our friend and fellow anglers.

This has not been without peril. We have tried a lot of second rate stuff . and we have decided which fly rod is the best for pike fly fishing.

This is of course our flagship product, the PIKESABER.

Tight Lines,

Team Piketrek.

Pike Fishing. We love it!
