Piketrek are pleased to announce that we have teamed-up with the Pike Fly Fishing Association to become the main sponsors of this year's Fenland Flyer Pike-Fly Fishing Match.
The event is to be fished on the River Delph and the Old Bedford River at Welney in Cambridgeshire on the 13th of November 2011. This competition is open to all, members or not, but tickets must be pre-booked via the PFFA website in advance. Tickets cost a measly tenner, it's worth that for the day's fishing! There are many prizes to be won on the day including a Pikesaber, so please come along and help us in our continuing support of the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust. We realise that there is a major recession on but a day's jolly with The Lads is always a good move! We're all going! Meet up in the Lamb and Flag at Welney at 8.30 a.m. SHARP! SEE YOU THERE!
9th September2011

Last Day of the River Season -
I had a good last-day-of-the-season session on the river courtesy of Craig Faulkner, who has access to a private weirpool on the Trent. We shared a total of 19 good pike between us with at least six good low-doubles; we had so much action at times it was hard to keep track! I would think that the biggest went around twelve pounds or so; we didn't bother to weigh them until Craig . . . . . . . READ MORE

We have added a few new products this month -
Dr Beechys' Original Compound Tungsten Putty - along with new Gill Plates and a new range of lines.
We have had loads of interest in Uncle Gregs' stealth fly. I can understand why as this is a superb creation. Watch this space for these to be available ready tied shortly. If you can't wait then grab your vise and some materials and tie your own. Their is a great youtube tutorial on how to do it.
We have also added to readers pikes - Check out David Dowies PB and Damon Keuhl's PIKESABER caught Muskie. Both superb specimens.

5th October.
Well it's been a busy few months =- Greg's been out night fishing for Pike on the Fly - It's like poor mans sea trout fishing! But slightly more chance of getting bit!
Here's the Video!
15th August - New Languages Added !
We've noticed an increasing amount of web traffic coming from locations other than 'Old Blighty over the last few months, and we have seen many new customers coming from overseas. With this in mind we have started to add new languages to our website, so that our non-english speaking pike fly fishing customers can use the site without the need for translation software.
This has been a lot of fun for us - and some of the translations may seem a little odd. Some so odd that they have had us in stitches :)
Anyway - The Languages added so far are French - Hungarian - German - Spanish with more to come soon. Please note that they are incomplete in parts but we are working to complete these soon.
Have fun fluff flingers!
Ben

Pike Fly Fishing Chew with the PFFA - 21st March
Hello -
You can find the latest on our Chew Valley adventure here Pike Fly Fishing with the PFFA - Chew Valley
Cheers,
Ben
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are very proud to announce that several of our products have now been approved by the PFFA ( Pike Fly Fishing Association ). This includes our flagship rod the PIKESABER. Look for the PFFA approved logo on our products. You can find the PFFA website on our links section.

Two new Pike Flies have been added to our pike fly fishing attractor range. These are the Derwent Devil and the Gerd Muller. Both are catching well on the Derwent at the moment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weather hasn't been brilliant for pike fly fishing over the last few weeks. The waters are a little murky and it's been cold. Blithfield Res opens up it's gates for anglers in 3 weeks time and I for one and very excited at the prospect of a few big pike on the fly. The rivers have been good for numbers of pike, and the quality of the fish has been superb, but river caught pike tend to be smaller than res caught fish, but they still fight well!
I remain convinced that we will have a large 30 if not a 40 this year. I have Chew Valley on the Doorstep and Greg Has Blithfield on his. How much better placed could we be for pike fly fishing?
Keep an eye over the next few weeks for Greg's Guided Pike fly fishing trips. He will be taking bookings over the next few months. If you want to get ahead of the game you can always contact Greg on the above number, or via email.

Greg has produced the first of what will soon be many tutorials on Pike Fly Tying.
This one is called the 5 Minute Pike Fly, and is tied using our range of pike fly materials. Enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have updated our range of pike flies with some fantastic new imitative patterns and some funky attractor patterns.
All of these flies have been tied using our new range of pike fly body materials.
We also have a new range of gills and eyes for blinging up your pike fly patterns.
Strelley and Scalesy also got bored over the christmas period as all the lakes had frozen over. They took some time out from their heavy schedule of tea drinking and mince pie eating to make their first youtube video in the snow.
It shows off the casting ability of our pike fly rod the Pikesaber. . . . . and to be perfectly honest it's a pretty good effort. Well done lads!

A short time ago at a trout lake not far away. . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . two friends (and relatives) went fishing for pike on the fly.
Realising that they were inadequately equipped for the task of pike fly fishing they set about looking for tackle that was specifically designed for the pike fly fisherman. Sure, there were products on the market that said they were pike fly rods and reels, but upon inspection these turned out to be little more than a 9 and 10 weight fly rod. Great for casting a line on a reservoir into a heavy wind, but not adequate for the punishment of pike fly fishing.
The other end of the spectrum was tarpon rods and sea reels. Too heavy for playing a pike and too expensive for us. I can only imagine how one may feel after trapping a £650 rod in a car door, or dropping it, off ones yacht. . . .
So Piketrek was born. We sought out new products, tested them, refined them and now we bring them to you, our friend and fellow anglers.
This has not been without peril. We have read a lot of fly rod magazines. We have seen a lot of rubbish, and we have yet to find a supplier of quality reels. This is why you won't see a pike fly reel on the site. . . . yet . . . .
Once we do you can rest assured that it will afford the same quality as our flagship product, the PIKESABER.
Tight Lines,
Team Piketrek.
