This is a new category for our site that is meant to promote ideas for you Fly-Pikers to try out and experiment with in the comfort of your own homes.
Our Ben has been badgering me to do something like this for a while now, as he seems to think that some of the things that I tie and discard are too good to just throw out and forget about! Looking through my "scrap pile" I think I must agree with him to some extent, but tying flies for a living means I don't get enough spare time to follow ideas through to their conclusions, and produce new patterns that not only fish well but look good enough for old ESOX to chomp on! If some of you lot out there on the "ether" can pick up on the thread of an idea and utilise it to suit your own tying skills, then it will make it worthwhile for me to sit and fart about with some of the things at my disposal! I would sure like to see what you can come up with, so don't be shy, show us yer flies!
I will try and add things on a regular basis if I can, but it's not everyday that I feel inspired (or stupid) enough to try outlandish things, so it will be on an "as it occurs" basis, and you might even be witness to a new "classic" fly being invented if you're lucky!
If you want to see lots of new inventions being created, then surely one of the most creative fly-tyers that I know of is Dave Lindsay up in Edinburgh, check out his blog for regular updates of "where it's at" as far as new patterns of fly go. You can find the link to "Mcfluffchucker's" blog on our homepage, but be warned.......you will find it real easy to get through loads of your precious fluff! ENJOY!
