Tied on a 4/0 Eagle Claw hook.
5" long lightweight pike lure with loads of attraction on a classic black hairtail fly. Will fish at any depth on the line density of your choice, although I prefer an intermediate or slow sinker. A lure with a crazy side-to-side and up and down jiggling motion on the retrieve that drives 'em wild!
The light weight of this fly means it is ideal for shallow water over weed, because you can fish it slowly in little jerks and the pike get plenty of time to latch onto it as it passes over the holes where they lie. When fishing like this, the pike seem to come from nowhere and smash the fly which leads to a high ratio of hook-ups. Exciting stuff!
