Let's face it, if you went livebaiting, you'd probably end up using a roach, so why should we fly anglers be any different? There's not a pike that lives (in these parts at least) that doesn't eat or come into contact with a roach or two every day of it's life.

I use one of these patterns more often than any other fly in my box, it really is that good. I've got one that has caught more than a dozen pike and is still almost as good as new, together with both eyes and gills intact! It doesn't get any better than this, it's so effective it is second only to livebait!
